AN INTIMATE ITALIAN FARMHOUSE WEDDING AT NOVELTY HILL JANUK WINERY, WOODINVILLE
Janna & Doug grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY and went to high school together. Then, more than 20 years after they graduated, they reconnected 2 years ago in Seattle (the wonders of Facebook!) and found they had lots in common, including food/wine, travel, pets, and most importantly, laughter. When we think back to their big day, that is exactly what we think of, laughter. They were constantly laughing, and enjoying every minute of the day.
Janna & Doug’s Italian farmhouse inspired wedding at Novelty Hill was an absolute dream! The florals and greenery played a big part in creating this simple, but stunning Italian villa vibe on a warm Summer evening. We used roses, dahlias, sweet peas, scabiosa and of course lavender and olive branch to bring in those quintessential Italian elements. They chose soft lavender and shades of orange to really go with the soft greenery of olive branch and herbs. Bold pops of magenta were mixed throughout the flowers as well. Everything coordinated with the farmhouse tables and vineyard chairs in the light gravel at Novelty Hill.
The bridal party wore light shades of long, lavender/mauve dresses. And the guys in light gray suits, which allowed for the boutonnieres made up of magenta spray roses to really stand out and coordinate with the ladies bouquets that were a beautiful mix of orange, magenta and a splash of lavender. Rich but soft shades looked amazing against their attire and their surroundings.
For the ceremony, we created full and lush floral pillars. We used olive branch to anchor and achieve the look of Italian romance, mixed with roses, stock, and dahlias to bring in the bright and whimsical color palette. So much amazing texture in this! We love floral pillars, as they are easily moved for the reception to create a fun and unique backdrop for the couples seating (or Photo Booth?) later on!
One of our favorite elements of the ceremony was the large arrangements at the entrance of the aisle. They were made up of only olive branch in a classic stone white vase. They were so simple but such a statement of how they wanted their guests to be transported to another country for a day.
Our absolute favorite element of this beautiful wedding was the reception table! Yes, one looong table, like you would envision for an Italian winery, that seated all of their 80 guests. We designed the ultimate table scape by incorporating low, lush arrangements made up of dahlias, roses, cosmos and lavender, bud vases to bring in a splash of color and fresh thyme and rosemary in terra-cotta pots! Colorful Glassybabys joined the flowers and herbs and were the perfect addition. We kept this design simple so that their family style dinner was added to the tables.
A beautiful detail that was carried throughout the design was the tile art that Janna created for their table numbers, the signage, place cards and even gave it to The Sweetside to incorporate the tiles on the cake. It was a gorgeous design and the perfect personal touch.
We loved so many details of this beautiful day. The couple, their love and their design really brought the Italian Farmhouse vibe to the Pacific Northwest for a very memorable day.
