A modern tropical Art Deco wedding at Axis Pioneer Square, Seattle
We always ask our couples what they want their wedding to look and feel like. Sometimes we get a theme and sometimes we get a few describing words. For Christy & Craig’s answer we got the best answer, they are going for an art deco/speakeasy vibe, and looking to create an ambience that's equal parts sophisticated (or formal) and fun! Then the cherry on top for us…they wanted tropical leaves! Honestly though, they had us at speakeasy!
Her bouquet was one of our favorites of the season. The classic white flowers with hints of texture with different in-season flowers. And the greenery! We used leaves from anthurium and caltheas partnered with sword fern and Italian ruscus. It was an oversized bouquet but not overly heavy or dramatic. We love creating classic looks but with a twist of modern to be unique.
We loved the different dresses her bridesmaids wore. She gave them a few specifics, like the color tone to stay within and to have sequins. They nailed it! Each dress was so beautiful and really fit with their theme of glamor, speakeasy and great Gatsby. And the guys…let’s not forget the guys. Keeping the glamour theme, they wore classic black tuxedos with bowties. Perfection!
There is something so magical about their venue, Axis Pioneer Square. We aren’t sure if it is the brick walls, the location or the history. Probably all the above. You can really imagine long ago parties just like this one being celebrated and thrown. The different lanterns with glowing candles that lead to their arch was so perfect for the venue.
Confetti cannon’s anyone? What an amazing way to leave your ceremony! This is the beginning of the fun they wanted for their guests.
A dramatic reception of a mix of tall and low flower arrangements on long tables. We loved every detail that went into their place setting and their reception. Gold chargers and flatware, the black and white table runners and their menus all pulled together to make their design come to life. Pops of hot pink and white flowers against the greens went beautifully with all the gold accents. One of our favorite elements was painted gold leaves on the tall arrangements.
We loved how Craig & Christy made their day about what they wanted to remember, feel and enjoy, but also how much they wanted their guests to have a great time as well. They visited, danced, and laughed late into the night. It was fun to go back at the end of the night and hear all their guests tell them what an amazing day and night it was for them and everyone.
Excited that their amazing day was shared on The Aisle Guide. Head there to see more details that they did for their wedding party and their guests.
